MACON, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team bounced back from a 3-2 loss in Game 1 to beat Wesleyan College 4-3 in Game 2 and earn a split on Saturday.
Trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning of Game 2, freshman Samara Miller's two-run double scored Amber Wade and Felicia Peoples to give Huntingdon (13-23, 12-8 USA South) a one-run lead. Freshman Maggie Porter's sacrifice fly scored Miller to make it a 4-2 game.
Wesleyan (6-24, 4-16 USA South) made it a one-run game in the bottom of the seventh inning before a flyout with the bases loaded ended the game.
Miller finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in Game 2 and Peoples was 2-for-3 with a run.
Lindsey Selph (2-5) pitched a complete game for the win. Selph struck out four, walked three, gave up six hits and allowed one earned run in seven innings. Madison Hunt (6-4) took the loss in relief in Game 1.
In Game 1, Miller and Wade each had an RBI and MacKenzie Smelley and Alex Teague each scored one run. Huntingdon carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before Wesleyan scored three runs to end the game.
Huntingdon closes out its conference schedule with a doubleheader at Agnes Scott on Sunday. Game 1 is set for 11 a.m. (Central).
