LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team fell to Averett University 7-2 on Thursday in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.
The loss dropped Huntingdon (17-25) into the elimination bracket. The Lady Hawks will face Meredith (28-16) at the Shuford Softball Complex on Friday at 10 a.m. (Eastern).
Averett (25-18) took the lead early on Thursday but Huntingdon only trailed 3-2 entering the sixth inning. Averett put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Samara Miller, Lindsey Selph and Raina Lanier combined for six of Huntingdon's seven hits. Selph had two hits, an RBI and a run, Miller had two hits and an RBI and Lanier had two hits and a run.
Lanier (6-12) took the loss in 2 1/3 innings.
