139 Hawks earn USA South Academic All-Conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – More than 130 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Monday. A total of 139 Hawks, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,446 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

Women's basketball player Juliette Harp and men's lacrosse player Sam Hitt were honored as the Huntingdon Female Student-Athlete of the Year and Male Student-Athlete of the Year during Wednesday night's Awards Ceremony.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Four Huntingdon softball players were recognized with the release of the USA South All-Conference awards on Thursday. Junior Alyssa Singleterry was named first-team West Division at shortstop and juniors Rayne Ellis (outfield) and McKenzie Ridgway (third base) and sophomore Madison Hunt (pitcher) were named second-team West Division. Freshman Claire Tomberlin was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Freshman Lauren Melton earned her first collegiate win in a 2-1 victory in the second game of a doubleheader with the Mississippi University for Women on Monday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team closed out the regular season on Monday with a pair of one-run wins over the Mississippi University for Women. The Lady Hawks scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 1-0 in Game 1 and won the second game 2-1. Junior Alyssa Singleterry drove in the winning run in Game 1 and freshman Katie Dewey drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 2.

BEREA, Ky. – The Huntingdon softball team swept Berea 10-0 and 16-2 on Saturday in the final USA South Athletic Conference doubleheader of the regular season. Game 1 was shortened to six innings and Game 2 was shortened to five innings.

Madison Hunt (8-4) earned the win in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader at Maryville.

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon softball team earned a split with USA South West Division frontrunner Maryville on Friday. After falling 9-0 in five innings in Game 1, Huntingdon bounced back with a 5-2 win in Game 2. The conference loss was just the second of the season for Maryville.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team bounced back from a Game 1 loss to beat Birmingham-Southern in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday. After falling 8-0 in five innings in Game 1, the Lady Hawks won the second game 2-0.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team split with Piedmont in a conference doubleheader on Sunday. The Lady Hawks lost the first game 4-3 in nine innings before bouncing back with a 4-3 win of their own in Game 2.

Senior Lindsey Selph threw a two-hitter and struck out nine in a five-inning win over Brevard on Saturday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team swept Brevard College with a pair of shutouts on Saturday. The Lady Hawks won the first game 8-0 in five innings and capped the day with a 5-0 win.
