Lady Hawks open season with pair of losses at No. 19 Berry

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team lost two games to 19th-ranked Berry College to open the season on Friday.

The Lady Hawks fell 11-2 in five innings in the first game and 9-1 in five innings in the second game.

In their first games with Huntingdon, juniors Kaci Cochran and Alyssa Singleterry combined for six of the Lady Hawks' nine hits. Cochran was 3-for-3 with an RBI in Game 1 and Singleterry was 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the doubleheader.

In Game 1, Cochran drove in Singleterry for Huntingdon's first run in the third inning. Singleterry also scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning. Starting pitcher Madison Hunt (0-1) took the loss.

In Game 2, Amari Fleming scored Huntingdon's only run on a sacrifice fly by McKenzie Ridgway in the third inning. Starting pitcher Haley Riddle (0-1) took the loss.

Coming Up: Huntingdon hosts Belhaven in a doubleheader on Tuesday. Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.
