Softball falls in Game 3 at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team ended its season on Saturday with a 12-4 loss to Piedmont in five innings.

The game was the final game of a best-of-three series in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament. The two teams split in the first two games of the series on Friday. Piedmont won the first game 2-1 and Huntingdon won the second game 8-2.

In the deciding Game 3, Huntingdon gave up six runs in the first inning but only trailed 7-4 after two innings. Piedmont pulled away with two runs in the third inning, one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning.

McKenzie Ridgway and Alyssa Singleterry accounted for four of Huntingdon's five hits in the game. Ridgway was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run and Singleterry was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Madison Perryman and Maggie Porter each had one RBI for the Lady Hawks and Katie Dewey scored one run. Madison Hunt (11-6) took the loss.
