Game 1:
The Hawks lost game 1, 8-1.
Anna Vaughn gave the Hawks an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first inning. Maryville tied the game in the bottom of the first and had a 6-run 4th inning to take a 7-1 lead. Their final run came in the 5th inning on a solo homerun.
Katelyn Holcombe suffered the loss, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits through 3.2 innings. Anna Vaughn was 2-3 with 1 RBI. Emily Nieuwstraten was 1-2. Natalie Ritchey was 1-3 with 1 run.
Game 2:
The Hawks lost game 2, 3-1.
After Maryville took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning, Annie Nolan tied the game with an RBI single to center field. Maryville regained the lead in the 5th inning with an RBI triple and added to it with an RBI double.
Holly Sharp pitched a complete game and allowed 3 runs on 10 hits with 1 strikeout. The Hawks totaled 5 hits and 2 walks.
The Hawks will take on William Peace on Thursday, April 28th, in round 1 of the USA South Conference tournament hosted by Pfeiffer University. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM CST.
