Hawks Sweep The Millsaps Majors
JACKSON,MISS.- Still playing at a high level, Huntingdon softball (12-0 overall) traveled to Jackson, Mississippi and took down the Millsaps Majors (3-6 overall) in both matches of a double header, winning the first matchup 16-3 and the second 12-2. Freshman pitcher Allie Roberts continued to assert her dominance on the mound, throwing a combined 15 strikeouts between the two games.
MATCH 1- Hawks win 16-3

Jordan Holman got the Hawks on the board with a double to left field bringing in Brooke Stefankiewicz in the top of the first

Bailey Murphy followed Holman in the lineup and singled to center field, which brought in Holman to put the Hawks up 2-0

To close the frame, Dani Holt grounded out, bringing home Katie Dinkel to push the Hawks lead to 3-0

Kamryn Miller found home base in the top of the second to grow the Hawks lead to 4-0

Not done yet, Bailey Murphy reached first base and brought Brooke Stefankiewicz for her second run of the day and the Hawks 5th

Miranda Treadway singled to left field in the following at bat, allowing Kylie Stephens to score the Hawks 6th run of the day

Still rolling, the Hawks closed the inning with Maddie Grace Hubbard, Riley Rudick, and Brooke Stefankiewicz all bringing in runners to push the lead to 9-0

The bats stayed hot going into the third inning, as Sydney Sellars brought home Jordan Holman to make the score 10-0

In the top of the fourth inning, Kylie Stephens hit the first home run of her young career, scoring two runs to extend the lead to 12

Bailey Murphy and Sydney Sellars followed Stephens with a double each, bringing in two runs to grow the lead even further

Millsaps responded with a homerun in the bottom of the fourth

The Hawks scoring ended in the 5th inning, with a ball and two wild pitches bringing in multiple Hawks, including Lauren Watts and Madison Salzman, to run away with a 16-increase their lead to 16-1

In the final frame, the Majors scored two runs, giving the Hawks a 16-3 victory.
