Huntingdon has strong showing in Hilltop Twilight Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's track and field team turned in five first-place performances in the Hilltop Twilight Classic this weekend at Birmingham-Southern.

Birmingham-Southern won the meet with 212 points, Huntingdon was second with 116 and Sewanee was third with 101.

Patricia Pickens (100 meters), Kyndall Caldwell (200 meters), Miah Burton (long jump), Kim Allen (discus) and the 4x100 meter relay team (Pickens, Burton, Caldwell and Sheaney Marshall) each won their events.

Pickens turned in a time of 12.67 seconds in the 100 meters to finish first in the field of seven. Pickens was also fourth in the 200 meters. Caldwell was first of nine runners in the 200 meters with a time of 26.14 seconds. Caldwell was third in the 100 meters.

Burton was first in a field of four in the long jump with a distance of 15-feet, 4-inches. Burton was fifth in the 100 meters and sixth in the 200 meters. Allen's throw of 125-feet was good for first in a field of five in the discus.

Huntingdon's 4x100 relay team was the only team to run in the relay and turned in a time of 52.16 second.

In addition to the first-place finishes, Huntingdon also had four second-place performances. Marshall was second in a field of five in the 400 meters. Kierra McClain was second in a field of four in the shot put. Sara Beasley was second in a field of five in the discus and javelin.

Huntingdon returns to action on April 21st in the Mountain Laurel Invitational in Sewanee, Tenn.
