Huntingdon women lose at Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team slipped on the road Monday night at Agnes Scott.

The Lady Hawks led for much of the first half and were in the game until the final minutes, but the Scotties pulled away late for a 63-47 win.

"This was not our best night," Huntingdon head coach Buzz Phillips said. "Agnes Scott has a good team and we didn't show up ready to play. We have another big conference game on the road Wednesday at LaGrange. LaGrange is unbeaten in the conference, so we have to move on from this one and get ready to play like I know we're capable of playing."

The Lady Hawks (8-6, 3-2 Great South Athletic Conference) never led by more than five points, but were able to maintain a lead in the first half and led 27-25 at halftime.

Agnes Scott (5-8, 4-2 GSAC) took the lead a little more than a minute into the second half and never relinquished it. The Lady Hawks remained within striking distance until the final minutes, and pulled within five points on a Whitney Toole basket with 4:27 to play. But from there, Agnes Scott closed the game with a 13-2 run.

Morgan Crawford led Huntingdon with 15 points, six rebounds and six steals. Jodi Montalvo also pulled down six rebounds.

Genefine Sapateh led Agnes Scott with 14 points and nine rebounds. Kimberly Reeves added 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Arielle Register followed with 10 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Huntingdon travels to LaGrange (11-4, 7-0 GSAC) on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. game.
