Lady Hawks fall to Piedmont in final regular-season game

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 89-63 loss to Piedmont on Saturday.

Huntingdon (15-10, 10-6 Great South Athletic Conference) hung with Piedmont (21-4, 13-3 GSAC) in the first half and trailed 33-26 at halftime. But Piedmont took control in the final 20 minutes. The Lady Lions scored 56 points in the second half.

Freshman Chelsea Graham had her best scoring performance yet as a Lady Hawk, turning in season-highs with six 3-pointers and 20 points. Tanjanik Munford added 11 points and six rebounds and Raven Prated finished with 10 points and five rebounds. LaTerial Williams had a team-high nine rebounds.

Sada Wheeler led Piedmont with 20 points and Keiondra Thompson added 17 points. Lauren Hamel finished with 13 points and Alyssa Jones had 11 points.

The Lady Hawks return to action at Roland Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as Huntingdon hosts a first-round game in the GSAC tournament. The matchups for the tournament had not been released as of Saturday night.

The winner of Tuesday's game advances to the tournament semifinals at LaGrange on Friday. The championship is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday at LaGrange.
