Seeding released for men’s and women’s GSAC basketball tournaments

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Great South Athletic Conference released the official seeding for the 2012 GSAC basketball tournament late Sunday night.

Both the Huntingdon men's and women's teams are the No. 4 seed for their tournaments.

The Lady Hawks (15-10) finished 10-6 in the GSAC and are 10-4 for the purposes of tournament seeding. The men's team (7-17) finished 3-5 in the GSAC and 1-5 for the purposes of tournament seeding. The men's and women's wins against Covenant do not count for tournament seeding.

The Lady Hawks will host No. 5 seed Spelman on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the GSAC tournament. The winner advances to the GSAC semifinals on Friday and will play top-seeded Maryville at 1 p.m. The championship game is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinals and finals for both the men's and women's tournament will be played at LaGrange College.

On the men's side, Huntingdon will play top-seeded LaGrange in the semifinals on Friday at 3 p.m. The men's championship is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday.

For the semifinals and finals at LaGrange, there is a $10 general admission price or a $20 two-day adult tournament pass. Children 12-and-under are admitted free.
