Lady Hawks basketball stumbles at Blue Mountain

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team led into the second half on Saturday, but Blue Mountain took a 57-51 win.

The Lady Hawks led 31-26 at the half before Blue Mountain eased ahead midway through the second half and held off Huntingdon in the final minutes.

"This was one we let slip away. Blue Mountain hit some key baskets at the right time, slipped past us and got the win," Huntingdon head coach Buzz Phillips said. "I was disappointed with our attitude tonight. We started worrying too much about "I" tonight instead of playing as a team and it cost us. When we step on the court, we have to be a team and that's the way we're going to approach it moving forward."

Patricia Pickens scored 15 points and Tanjanik Munford added 10 points to lead Huntingdon (2-3). Pickens also had seven rebounds and Munford had eight rebounds. Jodie Thomas finished with a team-high 16 rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action at Roland Arena on Dec. 8. The Lady Hawks host Oglethorpe at 2 p.m.
