Huntingdon women win fourth straight

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team built a 24-point lead in the first half and knocked off Covenant 75-58 on Saturday.

The win was the fourth straight for the Lady Hawks (9-8, 3-1 Great South Athletic Conference).

"Overall, I thought we played our best game of the season," Huntingdon head coach Buzz Phillips said. "We came out and did what we were supposed to do early, we were able to build a good lead in the second half and we got the opportunity to get all of our players in the game. This was a big road win for us and now we have to get ready for Agnes Scott next weekend."

Huntingdon used a 32-8 run, that included 15 straight points, to pull away from Covenant (6-6, 1-2 GSAC) in the first half. Huntingdon led 41-19 at the half and continued to pull away in the second half.

Patricia Pickens led Huntingdon with 20 points and six rebounds and Devin Douglas turned in a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Douglas also had four steals.

Morgan Crawford finished with 11 points and six steals and Katie Martin had 11 points and five rebounds. Tanjanik Munford pulled down nine rebounds and Jodie Thomas added eight rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action on Jan. 26, hosting Agnes Scott at 2 p.m.
