Lady Hawks rally late but fall at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final seven minutes but fell to Ferrum College 53-48 on Sunday.

Ferrum (8-10, 6-3 USA South) led 45-34 with 7:02 to play in the game before Huntingdon (7-9, 2-7 USA South) made a final push. A 3-pointer by Tiarrial Duncan capped a 14-5 run by the Lady Hawks to make it a 50-48 game with 17 seconds left.

Ferrum sealed the game with three free throws.

Sophomore Juliette Harp turned in her 11th double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds. A day after recording a career-high five blocks against Averett, Harp matched the mark with five blocks against Ferrum. She is just the fourth Huntingdon player to record five blocks in a game during the NCAA era.

With 42 blocks this season, Harp is tied with Dusti Doss for the second most blocks in a season by a Lady Hawk during the NCAA era. Doss also holds the Huntingdon season record with 45 blocks. With 63 blocks in 34 career games, Harp is second in career blocks. Doss holds the Lady Hawks' NCAA-era record with 149 career blocks.

Jenna Dorman just missed a double-double on Sunday with 10 points and nine rebounds and Duncan finished with 11 points.

Huntingdon returns to action at home on Feb. 6 against William Peace at 1 p.m.
