Weatherspoon and Hill’s career-highs lead Lady Hawks

ATLANTA – Senior Jello Weatherspoon and freshman Maia Hill combined to score 15 of Huntingdon's final 21 points in the Lady Hawks' 64-60 win over Oglethorpe on Sunday in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic.

Leading 63-60 with five seconds to play, Hill sank 1-of-2 free throws to make it a four-point game and help seal the win.

Huntingdon improves to 6-1 with the win, marking the best start for the Lady Hawks during the NCAA era. The previous best start was 5-2 during the 2013-14 season.

Huntingdon trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half and seven points in the third quarter but tied the game 45-45 on a Weatherspoon basket early in the fourth quarter. In the final 10 minutes, the Lady Hawks used eight points from Weatherspoon, seven points from Hill, four points from Juliette Harp and two points from T.I. Duncan to close out the game.

Weatherspoon led all scorers with a career-high 20 points, matched a career-high with seven assists and matched her season-high with seven rebounds. Hill, who entered the game with 13 points in her first six collegiate games, was Huntingdon's second-leading scorer with 17 points.

Harp turned in her second straight double-double and fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds. The 6-foot-2 junior also had six blocked shots, pushing her career total to 102 and making her the second Lady Hawk to reach 100 career blocks.

In two games in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Classic, Harp averaged 12 points, 17.5 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Duncan finished with 10 points and freshman Keturah Billen had a season-high eight rebounds.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Piedmont Cancer Awareness Classic on Dec. 29-30. The Lady Hawks are scheduled to play Emory at 3 p.m. on Dec. 29 and Meredith at 3 p.m. on Dec. 30.
