Huntingdon bounces back against Avenging Angels

DEMOREST, Ga. – Five players combined for 62 points as the Huntingdon women's basketball team bounced back with a 66-56 win over Meredith College on Friday in the Piedmont Cancer Awareness Classic.

Junior Juliette Harp led the Lady Hawks with 19 points, freshman Maia Hill scored a season-high 18 points, sophomore Mia Hudson followed with 11 points and senior Jello Weatherspoon and sophomore T.I. Duncan each added seven points.

Harp also had nine rebounds and six blocked shots. The 6-foot-2 Harp has pulled down 54 rebounds in the last four games and recorded six blocked shots or more in three of the last four games.

In addition to a season-high 18 points, Hill also turned in a season-high seven assists and six rebounds. Hudson recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 rebounds to go with her 11 points. Duncan finished with six rebounds and five steals.

The two teams exchanged leads in the first half before the Lady Hawks (7-2) took the lead for good late in the second quarter. Huntingdon went ahead 26-25 on a basket by Hudson with 1:47 left in the first half and led 28-25 at the half.

Huntingdon outscored Meredith (0-9) 21-11 in the third quarter to take control and built as much as a 19-point lead three times in the fourth quarter.

Huntingdon returns to action at home on Wednesday against LaGrange. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
