Piedmont too much for Lady Hawks

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team fell to Piedmont 85-49 on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks (11-4, 4-2 USA South) opened the game with a pair of free throws after a Piedmont (12-5, 5-1 USA South) technical foul but trailed by six after the first quarter.

Piedmont would use an 11-0 run midway through the second quarter to pull ahead by 14 and led by 12 at halftime before outscoring Huntingdon 23-11 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Jello Weatherspoon led all scorers with 14 points while Juliette Harp had a game-high 13 rebounds. Huntingdon had 12 players score at least one point, but only Weatherspoon recorded double-digit points.

Huntingdon travels to Salem on Sunday for a USA South Athletic Conference matchup.
