MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team took the lead in the second half and held off Birmingham-Southern in a 55-51 victory on Friday night.
Tied 47-47, Huntingdon took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by T.I. Duncan with 54 seconds remaining. Layups by Juliette Harp and Hannah Parks made it a 54-49 game before Birmingham-Southern cut it to three points with 11 seconds to play. Keturah Billen helped seal the game, hitting 1-of-2 free throws with seven seconds left.
The win was Huntingdon's fourth over the Panthers in the past six meetings.
The Lady Hawks struggled early in the game, falling behind 16-7 after one quarter. Huntingdon answered in the second quarter and tied the game 26-26 at halftime.
Huntingdon pulled ahead late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter, building its largest lead of the night, 47-36, with 6:36 to play in the game. The Panthers tied the game 47-47 with 1:29 remaining before Duncan, Harp, Parks and Billen closed the scoring in the final minute.
Harp turned in her ninth double-double in 10 games with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Duncan added 11 points, three assists and two blocks. Parks had nine points and three assists, Mia Hudson finished with seven points and 10 rebounds Billen had seven points and seven rebounds.
