Huntingdon hangs on for win at LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team sank four free throws in the final minute and edged LaGrange 55-53 on Wednesday.

In a game in which neither team led by more than eight points, a four-point lead was the largest lead in the final quarter. Huntingdon, after struggling to make just 12-of-27 free throws in the first 39 minutes of the game, hit 4-of-6 free throws in the final 60 seconds to secure the win.

Trailing 53-51 with a minute to play, Alex Lowery made 1-of-2 free throws to make it a one-point game. Juliette Harp sank 3-of-4 free throws in the final 20 seconds to give Huntingdon the lead.

With 17 seconds remaining, Harp tied the game on her first free throw and put the Lady Hawks in front for good on her second free throw. Following a missed LaGrange field-goal attempt, Harp hit 1-of-2 free throws with one second left.

Lowery, Harp, T.I. Duncan and Mia Hudson combined to score 50 of Huntingdon's 55 points. Harp recorded her Division III leading 20th double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Lowery had a team-high 16 points and Duncan and Hudson each scored 10 points. Duncan also had seven rebounds and five assists.
