Lady Hawks celebrate Senior Day with sixth straight win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team took control early on Saturday and knocked off LaGrange College 81-61 on Senior Day.

The win was the 16th of the season for Huntingdon (16-4, 9-3 USA South). This is the third consecutive season the Lady Hawks have reached 16 wins and the eighth time in program history. It is the first time during the NCAA era the Lady Hawks have reached 16 wins in the first 20 games.

On Saturday, Huntingdon took an 11-point lead in the opening seconds of the second quarter and led by double digits for the remainder of the game. The Lady Hawks led by as many as 16 points in the first half and carried a 41-26 lead into halftime.

LaGrange (10-10, 4-7 USA South) pulled within 10 points early in the third quarter before Huntingdon put the game away. Leading 41-31 with 7:04 to play in the period, Huntingdon closed the quarter with a 19-9 run and led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Senior Payton Kiser led Huntingdon in scoring with 17 points and was 5-for-10 from 3-point range. Senior T.I. Duncan added 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds and senior Mia Hudson had nine points and five rebounds.

Senior Hannah Parks, junior Shaonica Thomas and freshman Ry Whetstone each had eight points and senior Alex Lowery finished with seven points. Senior Abiba Bernard had five rebounds, sophomore Indya Lawrence had eight assists and freshman Kassidy Crawford had four assists.
