Huntingdon pulls away late against Brevard for 10th conference win

BREVARD, N.C. – Shaonica Thomas, T.I. Duncan and Mia Hudson combined for 43 points to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team in a 65-55 win over Brevard College on Friday.

Thomas led Huntingdon with 16 points and nine rebounds. Thomas, who leads the USA South this season with a 60.5 field-goal percentage, was 7-for-11 from the field.

Duncan added 15 points and Hudson had 12 points. Alex Lowery had a team-high four assists and three steals.  

With the win, Huntingdon improved to 17-4 overall and 10-3 in the USA South. This is just the fourth time in program history the Lady Hawks have reached 17 wins in a season. This is the second time the program has won 10 conference games since beginning play in the USA South during the 2013-14 season.

Against Brevard (9-12, 5-9 USA South), neither team led by more than six points until the fourth quarter. Brevard led 15-13 after one quarter, Huntingdon led 31-28 at halftime and the Lady Hawks led 49-45 entering the fourth quarter.

Leading 51-49, Huntingdon began to ease ahead in the final quarter. Sparked by 11 points from Duncan, Huntingdon outscored the Tornados 14-6 in the final 7:50 of the game.
