Hawks power past Pensacola Christian

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team took control in the first half and beat Pensacola Christian 72-57 on Saturday.

Huntingdon took the lead for good less than a minute into the game and steadily pulled away in the first two quarters. Leading 14-10 with 1:57 left in the opening quarter, the Hawks outscored Pensacola Christian 24-8 to close the first half.

Huntingdon carried a 38-18 lead into the second half and led by 21 points at the end of the third quarter, 55-34. The Hawks led by at least 14 points for the entire fourth quarter.

Shaonica Thomas recorded a double-double for the Hawks with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas, who leads the USA South with a 56.2 field goal percentage, was 9-for-11 from the field.

Ry Whetstone totaled nine rebounds and eight points and Alina Shoemake had 10 points and five rebounds. Indya Lawrence recorded nine points and a team-high four assists. Keturah Billen finished with six rebounds and Kelcie Smith had five rebounds.
