Demorest, Ga.-The Huntingdon Women's Basketball Team dropped game 1 of the East/West Classic, 71-64, to NC Wesleyan.
The Hawks started strong, taking a 15-11 lead after the first quarter and 32-26 lead at halftime. However, NC Wesleyan stormed back, putting up 26 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Ry Whetstone led the team with 17 points, including 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Alina Shoemake totaled 13 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Ja'Mya Broglen was 2-3 behind the arc and 5-9 inside. Broglen had 12 points for the Hawks.
The Hawks were outrebounded 46-32 but had 15 steals compared to NC Wesleyan's 12.
Huntingdon is back in action tomorrow, November 13, at 1 PM CST against Averett.
