Hawks Fall to the Majors in Thanksgiving Classic

Jackson, Mississippi – In day two of the Millsaps Thanksgiving tournament the Hawks fell to Millsaps College 67-53.

Huntingdon dug a nine-point hole in the first quarter, only shooting 20% from the field and behind the arc while the Majors shot 40% from the field. The score going into the second was 16-7, Millsaps. The Hawks increased their percentage to 40% in the second, but still struggled from behind the arc. The Majors hit 3 three pointers in the quarter to give them an 11-point lead at the half.

To kick off the second half, Millsaps struck first with a three to give themselves a 14-point lead. The Hawks fought back to bring the game within 6 at the 6:38 minute mark in the third with a 3-pointer by sophomore, Cassidy Campbell. Millsaps went on a run of their own to end the quarter with a 12-point lead, despite both teams making 6 field goals and 3 threes that quarter. (51-39) In the first five minutes of the fourth quarter Millsaps went on an 8-0 run before the Hawks got their first bucket. (59-41) Time began to wind down for the Hawks to make a come-back as they scored 14 points in the last 5 minutes of the game. The final score was 67-53.

On the night the Hawks shot 33.9% from the field and the Majors shot 40.3%, while both teams made 6 threes for the game.
