ROME, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team opened the spring season with a 334 in the opening round of the Coosa Invitational on Monday.

The round ties for the eighth best round in Lady Hawks' history and puts Huntingdon in third entering Tuesday's final round at the Coosa Country Club.

"The girls have picked up right where we left off in the fall," Huntingdon assistant coach Ashley Aguilera said. "It was 38 degrees, windy and rainy today. The conditions were really bad but the girls hit the course with a great attitude and were ready to go."

"I couldn't be more pleased with the effort these girls have given to prepare for the spring," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We have really worked hard preparing for the season and coach Aguilera has the girls very determined. It was really great to watch them today and see their focus under tough conditions."

University of the Cumberlands' Liz Stephens turned in the low round on Monday with a 3-over-par 73.
