Huntingdon women’s golf moves into top 10 at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team continued to play strong in the second round of the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks shaved 24 strokes off their first-round score and shot 324 on Saturday. The round is the third best round in program history and just three strokes off the program record of 321.

Entering Sunday's final round, Huntingdon is tied for 10th in the 20-team field with a two-round total of 672.

"I am so excited for our girls," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "They are finding themselves in position to shoot scores they've never shot before. They're a little out of their comfort zone, but that is a good thing. It's an exciting time for the program."

The University of Texas-Tyler leads the field at 629. Rhodes is second at 633 and Mary Hardin-Baylor is third at 637.

UT-Tyler's Laura Lindsey turned in the low round on Saturday with a 4-under-par 68 and leads with a 3-over 147 after two rounds.

Senior Saem Hur led Huntingdon with a 79 in the second round and freshmen LeeAnn Cahoon and Savannah Humber each shot 80. Cahoon is tied for 17th after two rounds with a score of 160. Hur and Humber are tied for 40th at 166.
