Lady Hawks tied for 2nd entering Rd. 2 of Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 329 on Friday in the first round of the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate.

Entering Saturday's second round, the Lady Hawks are seven strokes off the lead and tied for second. Illinois Wesleyan and New York University also shot 329 and are tied with Huntingdon. Rhodes College leads the 19-team field at 322.

"The girls played all 18 holes in the rain, so it was a test of patience out there," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "I know the girls felt like they played poorly today, but we're still in second and only seven shots back. With a solid final two days, our girls can give themselves a chance to do really well this week."

All five Huntingdon players are within nine strokes of tournament leaders Mackenzie Cohen (Rhodes College) and Elizabeth Kim (Oglethorpe University). Cohen and Kim both shot 5-over-par 77 in the opening round.

Huntingdon sophomore LeeAnn Cahoon is three strokes off the lead and tied for ninth at 80. Sophomore Savannah Humber is five strokes out of first and tied for 17th at 82.

Freshman Lindsey Huff shot 83 and is tied for 23rd in the 116-player field. Freshman Kelsey Spivey shot 84 and is tied for 34th and sophomore Courtney Harville shot 86 and is tied for 49th.
