Lady Hawks shoot 316 in final round at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team closed out the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate with its best round of the spring season and fourth best round in program history.

The Lady Hawks shot 316 in Sunday's final round and finished sixth with a three-round total of 973.

"The girls finished on a good note, firing 316 and getting back on track to the scores we were shooting in the fall," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "I fully expect us to continue this trend and get back on track to being one of the top teams in the nation."

Rhodes College shot 943 to win the tournament. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and New York University tied for second at 958.

Huntingdon sophomore LeeAnn Cahoon finished three strokes off the lead and tied for third at 231. Berry College's Sydney Weaver was the medalist at 228.

"LeeAnn once again showed that she is one of the top Division III players in the country," Schreyer said. "She has finished in the top three in three straight tournaments and she will continue to be a dominant golfer."

Behind Cahoon, freshman Kelsey Spivey shot 244, sophomore Savannah Humber shot 249, sophomore Courtney Harville shot 252 and freshman Lindsey Huff shot 260.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Rhodes Invitational on March 22.
