Lady Hawks place second in Methodist Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's golf team closed out the final round of the Methodist Spring Invitational with a strong showing to place second on Sunday.

The Lady Hawks followed up a 328 in the first round with a 318 in the second round and finished with a two-round total of 646. Sunday's 318 is tied for the sixth best round in program history.

Methodist won the seven-team tournament with a 627 and Berry College was third with a 682.

Huntingdon sophomore LeeAnn Cahoon shot a 1-over-par 73 in the final round and finished the tournament tied for second with a 9-over 153. Sewanee's Emily Javadi earned medalist honors with an 8-over 152.

The second-place finish was the fourth for Cahoon since the fall. In nine events during the fall and spring season, Cahoon finished in the top three six times. Cahoon's 73 in the final round is one stroke off the program record she set in September. This is the third time Cahoon has recorded a round of 73 this spring.

Sophomore Savannah Humber turned in her best collegiate round on Sunday with a 2-over 74 and finished the tournament tied for sixth at 158. Humber is one of four Lady Hawks, along with Cahoon (five times) and former golfers Saem Hur (one time) and Ali Hamil (one time) to shoot 74 or better in the program's history.

Freshman Kelsey Spivey finished 11th with a 164, sophomore Courtney Harville was 17th at 171 and freshman Lindsey Huff was 29th with a 179.
