Lady Hawks 10 strokes out of 1st after Rd. 2 of Golfweek D3 Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shaved 12 strokes off its first-round total and shot 308 on Monday in the second round of the Golfweek D3 Invitational.

Entering the final round on Tuesday at Baytowne Golf Club, the Lady Hawks are 10 strokes out of first with a two-round 628 and are fourth in the 18-team field.

"The girls played solid today," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We need to clean up the three-putts, but we did a great job getting within striking distance for the final round."

Huntingdon's 308 in the second round was the third best round on Monday behind Wittenberg's 302 and Methodist's 303. Wittenberg leads the tournament with a two-round score of 618, Methodist is second with a 619 and Mary Hardin-Baylor is third with a 624.

Huntingdon senior LeeAnn Cahoon led the Lady Hawks with a 1-over-par 73 in the second round. Cahoon is tied for fifth with a 6-over 150 for the tournament. Wittenberg's Jane Hopkinson-Wood leads the field with a 2-under 142.

Behind Cahoon, sophomore Katelyn Gilmore shot 77 on Monday and has a two-round total of 159. Junior Kelsey Spivey and senior Courtney Harville each shot 79 in the second round and sophomore Hallie Rice shot 85.

Spivey has a two-round total of 160, followed by Rice with a 165 and Harville with a 172.
