Cahoon ties for 4th, Huntingdon finishes 5th at Callaway

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Senior LeeAnn Cahoon shot a 2-under-par 70 to lead Huntingdon in the final round of the Callaway Gardens Invitational on Tuesday.

The 70 was one stroke off the Lady Hawks' single-round record of 69 set by Cahoon last fall and was best round versus par in program history. Of the three under-par rounds in Lady Hawks' history, all have been by Cahoon.

Before Cahoon's 2-under on Tuesday, the Prattville, Ala., native shot 1-under-par last fall and 1-under-par in the fall of 2014.

Cahoon finished four strokes out of first and tied for fourth with a 6-over 150 at Callaway. Berry's Sydney Weaver and Methodist's Johnna Beehner tied for first at 2-over 146.

The 20th-ranked Lady Hawks finished fifth in the 16-team field with a two-round total of 640. Fourth-ranked Rhodes won the tournament with a 618 and sixth-ranked Berry was second with a 625. Second-ranked Wittenberg was third with a 629 and seventh-ranked Methodist was fourth with a 633.

Behind Cahoon, sophomore Katelyn Gilmore shot a 3-over 75 in the final round and tied for 10th with a two-round 155. Junior Kelsey Spivey finished the tournament with a two-round 164, senior Courtney Harville finished with a 171 and freshman Madi DeWees finished with a 187.

Playing as an individual, freshman Hannah Tuttle shot a two-round 171.

Huntingdon plays in the Jekyll Island Invitational on March 17.
