Lady Hawks tie for 3rd in BSC Southern Shootout

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's golf team opened the fall season with a third-place finish in the eight-team BSC Southern Shootout.

The two-round tournament was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday and Monday. Due to the weather forecast for Monday, all 36 holes were played on Sunday.

Huntingdon shot 327 in the first round and 308 in the second round for a 635 total. Milligan College won the tournament with a 619 and Rhodes was second at 628. Birmingham-Southern tied for third with Huntingdon at 635.

Huntingdon juniors Vanessa Leiterman and Katelyn Gilmore both shot 156 in the two rounds to tie for fifth and were named All-Tournament. Milligan College's Sarah Son was the medalist with a 9-over-par 149.

Vanessa Leiterman: 84-72 – 156 (T5th of 47)

Katelyn Gilmore: 81-75 – 156 (T5th)

Olivia Hickson: 80-78 – 158 (T9th)

Madi DeWees: 82-83 – 165 (T23rd)

Anna Beth Harris: 90-84 – 174 (31st)

Individuals

Lexa Marchese: 92-86 – 178 (33rd)

Halle Auf der Heide: 91-88 – 179 (34th)

 

Quick Facts: Playing in her first event with Huntingdon, Leiterman's second-round 72 tied for the third best round in program history and was three strokes off the record of 69 set by former Lady Hawk LeeAnn Cahoon in the BSC Southern Shootout last season … Leiterman is just the third Lady Hawk to shoot 72 or better, joining Cahoon (three times) and teammate Katelyn Gilmore … Huntingdon's 308 in the second round is tied for the fourth best round in program history and is seven strokes off the program record of 301
