Huntingdon tied for 5th after Rd. 1 of MCC Women’s Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 315 in the opening round of the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Saturday.

Entering Sunday's final round, the Lady Hawks are tied for fifth in the eight-team field. Rhodes College leads the tournament with a 10-over-par 298 and Berry College is second at 304.  

Seniors Vanessa Leiterman and Katelyn Gilmore each shot 5-over 77 to lead Huntingdon and are tied for 13th. Freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot a 79, sophomore Anna Beth Harris shot 82 and junior Madi DeWees shot 85.

Rhodes College's Emily Salamy turned in Saturday's best round with a 4-under 68.

Playing as individuals, freshman Abigail Cody shot 86, junior Lexa Marchese shot 97 and senior Morgan Herfindahl shot 114.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will continue play in the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday.
