Gilmore’s 72 leads Lady Hawks in MCC Women’s Intercollegiate
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior Katelyn Gilmore shot an even-par 72 to lead the Huntingdon women's golf team in the final round of the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Gilmore finished fifth with a 5-over-par 149 in the two-round tournament.
The 13th-ranked Lady Hawks shot 320 in the final round and tied for sixth with a two-round 635. The eight-team field featured five nationally ranked teams. Nineteenth-ranked Rhodes won the tournament with a two-round 603 and 18th-ranked Washington and Lee was second with a 610. Tenth-ranked Berry was third with a 611.
Centre College's Bailey Plourde was the tournament medalist with an even-par 144.
Gilmore's 72 in the final round tied her best collegiate round and is tied for the third best round in Lady Hawks' history. Gilmore's two-round 149 is tied for the fourth best two-round total in program history.
Behind Gilmore, senior Vanessa Leiterman tied for 14th with a two-round 155. Freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw finished with a two-round 166, sophomore Anna Beth Harris finished with a two-round 167 and junior Madi DeWees shot 170 for the tournament.
Playing as an individual, freshman Abigail Cody shot 168 for the tournament.
Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the National Championship Preview in Houston on Sept. 24-25.
