Lady Hawks tied for 6th after Rd. 1 of Golfweek DIII Invitational

SANDESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 319 in the opening round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Sunday.                                                   

Entering Monday's second round at the Baytowne Golf Club, the 24th-ranked Lady Hawks are eight strokes out of first and tied for sixth. The 18-team field includes 11 nationally ranked teams.

Tenth-ranked Berry College leads the tournament with a 23-over-par 311 and 12th-ranked Methodist is second with a 313. 

Mary Hardin-Baylor's Olivia Robinson shot Sunday's best round with an even-par 72.

Huntingdon senior Vanessa Leiterman is four strokes off the lead and tied for eighth with a 4-over 76. Senior Katelyn Gilmore is three strokes behind Leiterman and tied for 20th with a 79.  

Behind Leiterman and Gilmore, junior Madi DeWees shot an 81, sophomore Anna Beth Harris shot an 83 and freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot an 86. Playing as an individual, freshman Abigail Cody shot 95.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the second round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Monday.
