Lady Hawks tie for 8th in Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 327 in the final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday and tied for eighth with a three-round total of 969.     

Fifteenth-ranked Carnegie Mellon won the 21-team tournament with a 48-over-par 912 and 13th-ranked Methodist was second at 918.

Senior Katelyn Gilmore led Huntingdon with a 5-over 77 in the final round and senior Vanessa Leiterman shot a 7-over 79. Leiterman finished tied for 11th with a three-round 231 and Gilmore tied for 17th with a 235.

New York University's Navika Kuchakulla earned medalist honors with a 4-over 220.

Behind Leiterman and Gilmore, freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot a 248 for the tournament, junior Madi DeWees shot 258 and freshman Abigail Cody shot 262.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the Piedmont Invitational on April 1-2.
