Leiterman in 1st, Lady Hawks two strokes out of 1st after Rd. 1 of BSC Southern Shootout

BESSEMER, Ala. – Senior Vanessa Leiterman is in first and the 21st-ranked Huntingdon women's golf team is two strokes out of first after the opening round of the BSC Southern Shootout on Monday.

Leiterman shot a season-best 1-over-par 73 and leads the field by one stroke. In a 10-team field that includes seven nationally ranked teams, Huntingdon shot 316 and is in third entering Tuesday's final round.

Eighteenth-ranked Oglethorpe leads the field with a 26-over 314 and 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon is second at 315. Fifth-ranked Rhodes is one stroke behind Huntingdon at 317 and 10th-ranked Methodist and 15th-ranked Berry are tied for fifth at 318.

Behind Leiterman, senior Katelyn Gilmore is tied for 11th with a 7-over 79. Freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw is tied for 22nd with a 9-over 81, junior Madi DeWees is tied for 33rd with an 83 and freshman Abigail Cody is tied for 45th with an 85.  Playing as an individual, sophomore Anna Beth Harris shot 89.

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the final round of the BSC Southern Shootout on Tuesday.
