Leiterman ties for 2nd in BSC Southern Shootout

BESSEMER, Ala. – Senior Vanessa Leiterman turned in her best finish of the season with a tie for second in the BSC Southern Shootout on Tuesday.

Leiterman shot an 8-over-par 152 in the two-round tournament, with a 1-over 73 in the first round and a 7-over 79 in the final round. Methodist's Alexandra Williams earned medalist honors with a two-round 147. Carnegie Mellon's Charlotte Simpson tied with Leiterman for second.

As a team, 21st-ranked Huntingdon finished sixth with a two-round total of 636. Huntingdon shot 320 in the final round. In a 10-team field that included seven nationally ranked teams, 10th-ranked Methodist and 15th-ranked Berry tied for first with a two-round 620. Methodist won the tournament on a tiebreaker.

Senior Katelyn Gilmore turned in Huntingdon's best round on Tuesday with a 5-over 77. Gilmore finished the tournament tied for 10th with a two-round 156. Freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot a 79 in the final round and tied for 22nd with a 36-hole total of 160.

Junior Madi DeWees shot an 85 in the final round and finished with a 168 and freshman Abigail Cody shot 85 in the final round and finished with a 170. Playing as an individual, sophomore Anna Beth Harris shot a two-round 180.
