Burdeshaw and DeWees tied for 6th in Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational

SANDESTIN, Fla. – Senior Madi DeWees turned in the best round of her collegiate career and sophomore Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot two strokes off her best collegiate round to lead the Huntingdon women's golf team in the opening round of the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Sunday.

Entering Monday's second round at Baytowne Golf Club, the two Lady Hawks are four strokes off the lead and tied for sixth at 4-over-par 76. Centre College's Bailey Plourde leads the tournament with an even-par 72.

In a field that includes nine nationally ranked teams, Huntingdon shot 330 and is 14th after the first round. Seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon leads the 18-team tournament with a 21-over 309.

Sixteenth-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater and 22nd-ranked Southwestern University are tied for second at 314.

Behind DeWees and Burdeshaw, junior Anna Beth Harris shot 88 in the opening round, sophomore Abigail Cody shot 90 and freshman Emma Cox shot 93.
