Gress’ five goals lead Lady Hawks to second straight win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Briana Gress scored five goals as the Huntingdon women's lacrosse team accomplished another first on Tuesday.

With a 13-10 win over LaGrange, the first-year Lady Hawks (2-0) have their first winning streak.

Gress finished with five goals, one assist and seven draw controls. Jamie Reschke totaled three goals, two assists and five ground balls.

Lonnitria Keenan and Bridget Lee each scored twice and Jen Price scored once. Lee and Price each had an assist. Taylor Hinton and Kalyn Spatol both recorded five ground balls. Goalie Alexis McDonald recorded 11 saves.

Huntingdon jumped out to a 5-0 lead on three goals from Gress, one from Reschke and one from Keenan. Gress, Reschke and Lee each scored in the final five minutes of the first half to make it 8-4 at halftime.

Keenan, Lee, Price and Gress each scored in the first 11 minutes of the second half to give the Lady Hawks a 12-6 lead. LaGrange (1-2) rallied to make it 12-10 with less than eight minutes to play before Reschke scored the final goal of the game with 5:36 to play.

Huntingdon returns to action on Saturday at Piedmont. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
