Lady Hawks rally late but fall against Otterbein

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon scored three times in the final 10 minutes to rally from a four-goal deficit, but Otterbein held on for a 14-12 win in women's lacrosse on Tuesday.

The first-year Lady Hawks (4-3) never trailed by more than three goals in the first 45 minutes and matched Otterbein (4-2) for most of the game. The Cardinals took a 13-9 lead with 12:24 to play before Huntingdon answered with three quick goals.

Shannen O'Leary, Jamie Reschke and Lonnitria Keenan each scored to make it a 13-12 game, but the Lady Hawks couldn't complete the comeback.

Reschke and O'Leary each finished with three goals and an assist. Reschke had five ground balls and O'Leary finished with seven ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Candace Williams and Briana Gress each scored two goals and Keenan and Kalyn Spatol both finished with one goal. Jen Price had an assist, nine ground balls and two caused turnovers. Gress added six ground balls and Katie McLean had two caused turnovers.

Goalie Alexis McDonald finished with 19 saves.

Huntingdon travels to Ferrum on Thursday at 5 p.m.
