Huntingdon women’s lacrosse earns sixth win of the season

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. –The first-year Huntingdon women's lacrosse team used a balanced scoring attack to knock off North Carolina Wesleyan 20-13 on Tuesday.

Huntingdon (6-4) gave up a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game but answered with seven goals in the next 12 minutes to take a 7-1 lead. The Lady Hawks led by as many as nine goals in the first half and took a 14-5 lead into halftime.

North Carolina Wesleyan (0-9) made it a 16-12 game in the final seven minutes, but Huntingdon responded with four goals to close out the game.

Six players combined for Huntingdon's 20 goals. Jen Price led the Lady Hawks with five goals and four ground balls. Kalyn Spatol scored four goals, Jamie Reschke, Lonnitria Keenan and Briana Gress each scored three goals and Candace Williams scored two goals.

Reschke also had an assist and four caused turnovers and Gress had four ground balls and four draw controls. Shannen O'Leary recorded four assists and 10 draw controls and Bridget Lee had one assist.

Starting goalie Alexis McDonald finished with six saves in the first half and Rachael Phillips had three saves in the second half.

Huntingdon returns to action on Wednesday at Greensboro at 3 p.m.
