Lady Hawks fifth in USA South preseason women’s lacrosse poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The second-year Huntingdon women's lacrosse team enters its first season in the USA South Athletic Conference as the fifth ranked team in the conference preseason poll.

Huntingdon totaled 34 points in the poll released on Thursday. Ferrum, who finished second in the conference last season, is the preseason No. 1. The Panthers picked up six first-place votes and 62 total points.

Greensboro was second with two first-place votes and 56 points, Piedmont was third with 49 points and Meredith was fourth with one first-place vote and 46 points.

Competing as an Independent last season, the Lady Hawks recorded an 8-6 record in their inaugural season. Huntingdon was 3-3 against USA South teams.

Huntingdon opens the season at home against Millsaps on Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The Lady Hawks will play their first conference game on March 1, hosting North Carolina Wesleyan at 11 a.m.
