Huntingdon women’s lacrosse falls to Meredith in conference battle

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team battled Meredith College evenly for most of the first half on Sunday, but the Avenging Angels pulled ahead late in the first half and took a 13-8 win.

With Huntingdon (3-3, 1-1 USA South Athletic Conference) leading 4-3 with 12:36 left in the first half, Meredith (3-1, 2-0 USA South) scored five straight goals to take an 8-4 lead in the final minute of the half.

Huntingdon pulled within three goals three times, but could not overtake Meredith.

Candace Williams, Jamie Reschke and Lonnitria Keenan each scored two goals for Huntingdon and Jen Price and Shannen O'Leary both scored once. Williams also had an assist, O'Leary had three ground balls and three draw controls and Reschke had three ground balls. Kalyn Spatol finished with five ground balls.

Goalie Alexis McDonald recorded 15 saves.

Huntingdon travels to Ferrum on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
