Huntingdon women’s lacrosse earns third conference win

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit and held off Methodist University 17-13 on Saturday.

This was the second straight USA South Athletic Conference win for the Lady Hawks (5-5, 3-3 USA South).

Trailing 7-4 with 9:08 left in the first half, the Lady Hawks outscored Methodist 5-1 to close the first half and take a 9-8 lead into halftime. Huntingdon built a 14-10 lead in the first 10 minutes of the second half and led by as many as five goals in the second half.

Shannen O'Leary, Jen Price and Lonnitria Keenan combined for 10 goals and five assists for the Lady Hawks. O'Leary had four goals and an assist, Price had three goals, two assists and two caused turnovers and Keenan had three goals and two assists.

Jamie Reschke had two goals and an assist, Candace Williams and Briana Gress each scored two goals and Bridget Lee scored one goal. Kalyn Spatol had an assist and six draw controls and Tori Krupa had three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Goalie Alexis McDonald had eight saves, three ground balls and 13 goals allowed.

Huntingdon travels to Millsaps on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
