Huntingdon women’s lacrosse rallies late but falls to Berry

ROME, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team rallied in the second half but came up short 15-13 against Berry College on Tuesday.

The second-year Lady Hawks (7-7) played the fourth-year Vikings (6-5) evenly for much of the first half. Berry took a 10-5 lead at halftime and eased ahead to a 15-8 lead with 13:58 to play in the game.

Behind three goals from Candace Williams and a goal each from Jen Price and Shannen O'Leary, Huntingdon scored the final five goals of the game.

Williams finished the game with six goals on seven shots, finishing one goal short of O'Leary's record of seven goals in a game. Williams is one of six Huntingdon players to score six goals in a game during the first two seasons of competition and the third player this season.

Price, O'Leary and Kalyn Spatol each finished with two goals on Tuesday and Lonnitria Keenan scored one goal. O'Leary added two assists and five draw controls and Jamie Reschke and Bridget Lee each had one assist.

Goalie Alexis McDonald finished with 11 saves for Huntingdon.

Huntingdon closes out the regular season on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Birmingham-Southern. The Lady Hawks will open play in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament at Greensboro on Sunday.
