Lady Hawks fifth in USA South preseason women’s lacrosse poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The third-year Huntingdon women's lacrosse team is ranked fifth in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll released on Thursday.

Last season, in their first year in the USA South, the Lady Hawks were 7-9 overall, 4-4 in the conference and qualified for the conference tournament.

Huntingdon picked up 14 points in the preseason poll. Defending conference tournament champion Meredith earned four first-place votes and 33 points. Piedmont, the 2014 conference regular-season champion is second with two first-place votes and 32 points.

Ferrum is third with one first-place vote and 28 points and Greensboro is fourth with 21 points.

Behind Huntingdon, Methodist is sixth with 10 points and LaGrange is seventh with nine points.

In two seasons of competition, Huntingdon is 15-15. The Lady Hawks open the season on Feb. 7 at home against Rhodes at 1 p.m.
