Lady Hawks knock off LaGrange for first win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team matched its season-high for goals scored and picked up its first win of the season with an 18-8 victory over LaGrange on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks (1-9, 1-1 USA South) scored 11 goals in the first half and held LaGrange (1-8, 0-4 USA South) to four goals in each half. Huntingdon built an 11-4 lead at halftime and led by as many as 11 goals in the second half.

The Lady Hawks took control of the game midway through the first half. Leading 5-3 with a little less than 16 minutes to play in the first half, Huntingdon scored six goals in the final 15:55 of the half. The Lady Hawks opened the second half with four straight goals to take a 15-4 lead with 18:56 to play in the game.

Jen Price and Lonnitria Keenan each had four goals and an assist for Huntingdon. Price also had five draw controls and seven ground balls. Keenan had four ground balls.

Briana Gress had three goals and three draw controls and Shannen O'Leary had two goals, two assists, five draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Carolyn Smith finished with two goals and four ground balls, Candace Williams had two goals and Jamie Reschke had one goal.

Goalie Victoria Krupa recorded nine saves and allowed eight goals.

Huntingdon plays at Hendrix (2-6) on Monday at 1 p.m.
