Women’s lacrosse falls to conference leader Meredith

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team lost to Meredith College 23-4 on Sunday.

The Avenging Angels entered the game leading the USA South standings and have a record of 9-1 and are 4-0 in conference play.

Meredith opened the game with 10 goals in the first 11:06. Ariana Kelty scored Huntingdon's (5-6, 1-3 USA South) first goal at the 14:43 mark before Meredith answered with four unanswered goals.

Shannen O'Leary found Briana Gress with 3:41 left as the Lady Hawks trailed 15-2 heading into halftime.

Carolyn Smith added two goals in the second half as Meredith was too much for Huntingdon.

Jen Price recorded five ground balls and had four caused turnovers. Gress had one goal and two draw controls.

Kelty scored once and had one assist while O'Leary had one assist.

Victoria Krupa recorded eight saves and had five ground balls in the loss.

The Lady Hawks travel to Transylvania on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. game.
