Huntingdon falls short at Division II Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team lost 14-7 to Division II opponent Brevard on Saturday afternoon.

The Tornados (1-3) opened the game with a goal in the first 27 seconds of the opening half off a free position shot. Victoria Krupa tied the game 32 seconds later to put the Lady Hawks (0-4) in good position.

Brevard rattled off four goals before Krupa found the back of the net again to pull within three goals of the Tornados.

Brevard answered with a man-up goal before Maddy Morrison scored her first of three goals with 6:33 left to make the score 6-3. The Tornados scored late in the half to head into halftime with a 7-3 lead.

Brevard extended its lead in the second-half to 9-3 before Morrison added a goal. After a Tornado goal, Madison Rackley scored for the Lady Hawks to cut the lead to five.

Brevard would score four more goals before Jade Paul and Morrison scored goals to close the game for Huntingdon.  

Paul finished with one goal and four draw controls. Morrison scored three times and had two ground balls. Krupa had two goals and three ground balls.

Alexa Murray had four ground balls. Goalie Alyssa Alvarado allowed 14 goals and finished with nine saves and five ground balls.  

The Lady Hawks play at Pfeiffer on Sunday at 11 a.m.
